As a music teacher, I use my voice all day - quilting is silent. At school I'm surrounded by hundreds of people - quilting is solitary. I teach music and drama, things that are meaningful but also intangible - quilting provides something that you can see and touch.  The mathematics of creating the patchwork and the beauty of the color choices make this a hobby that is creative and expressive - perfect for me! There is great enjoyment in both piecing the top and then quilting it on my sewing machine. I've been quilting for almost 20 years and I value the friends and experiences gained through quilting.  There is always something else to do!                          Mike
